Recently, I was I am often drawn into Pinterest… In fact, it’s a favorite place to find inspiration and feel like I am staying in touch with my artistic self. I see so many awesome lessons by art educators. I had to post about International Dot Day. You see, International Dot Day takes place at the beginning of the school year (relatively) and it offers educators a perfect opportunity to show students how art is everywhere – that there are creative opportunities and beautiful observations awaiting them! What a fun way to kick off an art program, this year it will happen on September 15, 2019. Here is a link to the Art is Basic Blog, where Marcia Beckett shares her experience attending the National Art Education Association conference where Peter Reynolds, the author of The Dot, presented. :
The Dot is an inspirational book written and illustrated by Peter Reynolds. With a simple, witty story and free-spirited illustrations, Peter H. Reynolds entices even the stubbornly uncreative among us to make a mark — and follow where it takes us.
“Just make a mark and see where it takes you.”
The book has gained so much popularity in the educational art world that many schools celebrate and create on International Dot Day.
